About
Hi, I’m Markos Fragkakis, a backend engineer based in Greece.
I’ve spent most of my career building things with Java, Ruby on Rails and recently Python, working on everything from adverse drug reaction reporting systems to game engines. I enjoy the craft of backend development—designing APIs, optimizing database queries, and making systems that actually work at scale.
Beyond my day job, I used to co-organize JHUG (Java Hellenic User Group), where we brought together Java developers in Greece to share knowledge and stay current with the ecosystem.
I studied at the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department at the University of Patras, and hold a Master’s degree from the University of Edinburgh, where I worked on semantic web technologies.
